Tayano Newborn Session

Welcome Baby Wesley: A Cozy In-Home Newborn Session


There’s something truly special about capturing those first few weeks of a newborn’s life—the tiny fingers, the sleepy stretches, the way a family’s love grows overnight. Recently, I had the honor of photographing the Tayano family as they welcomed their sweet baby boy, Wesley Harris Tayano, into the world. Jessica and Chris reached out to me hoping to document this precious time with their little one. As first-time parents, they knew they wanted natural, heartfelt images that reflected their new life together. With that in mind, I aimed to create a relaxed, comfortable atmosphere where they could simply soak in these moments while I worked my magic behind the lens.


the perfect place


We started the session in Chris & Jessica's newly renovated bedroom. I am in love with the space! I would love to have a studio that looked as great as their bedroom and I'm pretty sure I told them that a million times. It's AMAZING. Chris built a cozy bench area in front of their window and it has a high built-in bookshelf and cabinets that provide incredible storage space. What's even more impressive? Chris and Jessica did the work themselves and made their space perfectly theirs. We moved the session into Wesley’s beautifully designed nursery. The dusty blue walls paired with soft, neutral animal artwork created the perfect calming backdrop for his portraits. His parents kept things simple with wooden and off-white furniture, letting the details shine in an elegant and timeless way. One of my favorite details was the personalized blanket with Wesley’s name on it, a thoughtful gift from a close friend. It made for such a sweet and sentimental touch in the photos!


Capturing Candid Moments


Jessica mentioned that she and Chris can be a bit camera-shy, so I focused on giving them gentle prompts rather than stiff poses. We kept things lighthearted, capturing their natural interactions—Chris softly swaying Wesley in his arms, Jessica cuddling her sleepy baby, and both parents sharing a quiet moment as they admired their new son. Those in-between moments, where love is felt rather than posed, are always my favorite.


Alaska Joins In


One of the highlights of the session was including the Tayano family’s beloved four-legged member—a lively 50-pound pup who was thrilled to be part of the fun! Her name is Alaska, a sweet nod to Chris and Jessica’s honeymoon destination. It took plenty of treats and patience, but we captured the perfect moments with her. We were able to get the sweetest pictures of Alaska kissing Wesley's tiny toes! Though she started off full of energy, she soon settled in, curling up next to Wesley as if she already knew she had found a new best friend.


A Session to Remember


This newborn session was filled with warmth, laughter, and the sweetest little baby boy. Jessica and Chris may have been unsure about professional photos at first, but by the end of the session, they were simply present in the moment—loving on their son and each other.


Wesley, you are so loved already, and I feel honored to document you at just a couple weeks old.
